APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE SACRED GROVE

Updated 4/26/2009

The next Open Gate period will be in June :) Applications are accepted year-round. However, new sisters are welcomed into the Grove four times a year (seasonally). When the Open Gate period nears, you will receive a "Date of Welcoming" which is a special day of celebration when you (and only you!) are welcomed into the Grove.

This application serves to help both you and the Grove moderators decide if this space fits you cozily. It's not a measurement of worthiness. Applications can be so... daunting, but please don't be intimidated. The moderators are warm-hearted, and very excited to meet new sisters. :)

Mostly this application serves as an "ice breaker" and allows us to begin the joyous process of getting to know you... So please share freely and don't worry about writing too much. T'is not possible to write too much!

Please take your time while answering the questions. Perhaps brew a cup of tea, light a candle, and then share your story with us. If your answers are too brief, we might ask some follow-up questions to clarify. Once completed, please email this to:
janukanu@gmail.com

1) By what name do you wish to be addressed in the Grove (this is a very casual space) ?

2) Members must be 21 years old or older to join; no exceptions. Dare we ask, what is your age and when is your birthday? (we enjoy making merry on your behalf)

3) How did you find Sisters of the Sacred Grove, and what are you seeking?

4) We focus mostly upon Goddess/Divine Feminine in the Grove, though the occasional God is welcome. Is your spiritual path (mostly) Goddess-oriented? (Please note: we are not exclusively "Wiccan", though we do have several Wiccan sisters)

5) Do you consider yourself a witch? And what does the term "witch" mean to you?

6) In the Grove, we are a close and intimate community. Are you willing to familiarize yourself with other women in the Grove, and share your journey and heart with them?

7) Familiarity is important to maintain coziness in the Grove. Some sisters read and write daily. Others participate on the weekends. Some are Morning Sisters, others are Midnight Sisters... So long as we are consistent and familiar to one another then all is well. Can you read AND post messages consistently in the Grove?

8) The Grove is for women only. We need a truly women- only learning and discussion space where we can comfortably share and discuss blood mysteries. Were you born and raised female?

9) What was your spiritual/religious experience and upbringing as a child?

10) We can be VERY silly and VERY boisterous at times. Are you okay with rampant silliness and boisterousness?

11) We encourage one another to be passionate when debating issues whilst debating in a friendly "tone". If someone posts offensively, we ask that you not "take the bait." Please either ignore it, contact the offensive sister in question privately, or appeal to the moderators for intervention (you can even vent, rant, and whine to us). Negativity spreads like wildfire in online communities, and is easier to extinguish off-list. :) Are you comfortable and in agreement with this arrangement?

12) We prefer to share the Membership Application responses with all Grove members so that we may begin getting to know you. If you would rather we did not post your answers to the group, please let us know, and we will respect your wishes. May we share your Application with the group?

13) Do you have any questions you'd like to ask us before joining? Comments? Please don't be shy. :)

"Classes" are run without a formal schedule. If a lesson (either current or archived) captures your eye and heart, you are encouraged to explore and share. Students learn at their own paces. There are no "due dates" or formal tests/grades. Yay!

You may join a class at any time and work at your own pace. And if you feel drawn to teach, please speak up. We'd love to learn from you as well.

Grove members are equals! We bring our own discoveries, experiences, interests, and inspirations to the Grove. It is a safe space to share about ourselves and our lives, without judgment. All teachers are students, and the learning never ends. Divine wisdom resides in us all, including you.

Jenai, the Grove Mum and Founder, may be contacted any time for technical and moderator-related questions and needs:

Please consider this commitment carefully. If this is not the right space for you, we understand.

May the Goddess guide your choices and bring you joy. :)

Joyous Blessings,
~Jenai, Grove Mum
